Before deciding to work full time in his own business, Enduring Investments, Michael Ashton was the U.S. CPI product manager and traded U.S. CPI derivatives for Natixis Financial Products, Inc. He previously worked for a number of firms in the financial industry, including J.P. Morgan, Bankers Trust, Deutsche Bank, and Barclays, in roles ranging from marketing to research to trading.

Since 2003 he has played an integral role in developing the U.S. inflation derivatives markets. While at Barclays, he traded the first interbank U.S. CPI swaps. He was primarily responsible for the creation of the CPI Futures contract that the Chicago Mercantile Exchange listed in February 2004 and was the lead market maker for that contract.

Mr. Ashton has written extensively about the use of inflation-indexed products for hedging real exposures and recently co-wrote (with Pimco’s Dr. Robert Greer) a chapter on “Inflation and Commodities” for a forthcoming book from Risk Publications.

Mr. Ashton received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Trinity University in 1990 and was awarded his CFA charter in 2001. He is married with two children and lives in Morristown, New Jersey.

Maestro My Ass! is Mike's first book.
